Michael Burton - 3D - Originals

January 6th, 2007

Artist Michael Burton explores his craft from all angles. It was a discussion with a carpenter friend that first gave Michael the idea of going three-dimensional. A typical piece begins with sketches: what the object will look like, how big the piece will be, and most importantly, how the angles come together. The next step is to build the frame, stitch the canvas together and stretch over the form. This is a painstaking job. ” You have to learn to deal with wrinkles” Michael says. At the young age of 28, Michael and his art have already traveled a long way. Inspired by the masters who came before him, and an unending curiosity with what will come next, his work breathes life into a timeless form. Currently, Michael is finishing his MFA degree in painting at the University of Nebraska and is pursuing a career as a professor of painting at various Universities and colleges.
