ARTIST’S STATEMENT
As I create an image, I celebrate and pay homage to my subject.
It is my way of saying “thank you” for the perfect, momentary gift.
Conveying my experience is extremely challenging. I strive to express
the essence of what I see, while simultaneously, the vision must be a flash
point for the metaphors, memories and emotions I carry within me.
Nancy is an artist and psychotherapist. Since 1982, she has been in private practice in Albany, New York. Born in Washington, D.C., she graduated Cum Laude from Clark University and the School of the Worcester Art Museum in 1968. In 1971 she received a Master of Fine Arts degree from Pratt Institute. This was followed in 1975 with a Certificate in Psychotherapy from the Metropolitan Institute in Manhattan, and a Master of Social Work degree from Hunter College in 1978.
Nancy travels extensively in Greece and is a seasonal resident of Martha’s Vineyard. In addition to the awards listed below, she has been published in The Washington Post, Vineyard Style Magazine, and Cape Cod Life. She has won an Alden Trust Award, fellowships in Graphics and Art Therapy from Pratt Institute, and in 2004 Nancy was awarded a grant from the New York Foundation for the Arts.
