Island Photographer and Writer – Mimi Torchin
The first moment I set foot on Martha’s Vineyard I knew I had come home. Fifteen year’s and 8,000 photographs later, I am still thrilled and astonished every day by the beauty and genuine magic of this island. Although half my year is spent on another island “ Manhattan“ my heart is never far from the Vineyard. I consider myself very fortunate to have been able to earn my living as an entertainment writer and television commentator. Most recently, I was the founding Editor-in-Chief of Soap Opera Weekly and ran the publication for 11 years. I still write a monthly critical column on daytime drama for SOAPnet.com, the website supporting the 24-hour, Disney-owned cable soap network.
Being a freelance writer allows me to do my work from both my homes and gives me abundant time to indulge my passion for photography. I hope my photos reflect my love of Martha’s Vineyard. An artist friend has described many of them as being “moody, melancholy and serene. Perhaps you will agree.
